Professor James Wood OBE is a veterinary Epidemiologist with research interests in emerging and zoonotic infectious diseases, especially bat transmitted viruses in sub-Saharan Africa and bovine tuberculosis.

His research interests are focussed on One Health approaches to infectious disease emergence and its control, taking particular attention to research impacts on policy. James is Alborada Professor of Equine and Farm Animal Medicine and Head of University of Cambridge Vet School. He also co-chairs the Cambridge Infectious Diseases Interdisciplinary Research Centre and conducts multidisciplinary research on infectious diseases.

Professor Wood is also involved in the Cambridge-Africa programme, which focuses on building links between Cambridge and African Institutions and which aims to strengthen Africa's own capacity for sustainable research.
