Southern African workshop: One Health coronavirus biosurveillance towardsprevention, preparedness and response
The Southern African One Health workshop on coronavirus biosurveillance towards prevention, preparedness and response will assess:
- the gaps in research of zoonotic bat coronaviruses (and other potentially zoonotic viral agents)
- establish collaborations nd formalize strategic surveillance plans for the long-term surveillance of bat species and potential intermediate animal hosts
- addresses how we should consider this data in the deelopment of future preventatitve measures including biologics
The workshop will provide:
- specialist lectures on bat taxonomy
- assist in how to identify bat roosts and metapopulations spanning various regions
- sharing skills towards molecular methodologies for low-resource viral surveillance
- identifying capacity for collaborations and skills transfer
