The Southern African One Health workshop on coronavirus biosurveillance towards prevention, preparedness and response will assess:

• the gaps in research of zoonotic bat coronaviruses (and other potentially zoonotic viral agents)
• establish collaborations nd formalize strategic surveillance plans for the long-term surveillance of bat species and potential intermediate animal hosts
• addresses how we should consider this data in the deelopment of future preventatitve measures including biologics

The workshop will provide:

• specialist lectures on bat taxonomy
• assist in how to identify bat roosts and metapopulations spanning various regions
• sharing skills towards molecular methodologies for low-resource viral surveillance
• identifying capacity for collaborations and skills transfer
