The international conference “ Coronaviruses: Past, Present, and Future India 2022 (ICCoVs-India-22) will provide a platform to researchers, scientists, academicians, industry representatives, medical doctors, veterinarians, social scientists and policy makers to discuss coronavirus research and policies surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian subcontinent. The main aim of this initiative is to create a global network and coordinate interaction between the coronavirus researchers (animal and human coronaviruses), industry partners and government bodies to work for the animal-human and environment interface. The conference shall boost the communication of the ideas to identify the knowledge gaps related to coronaviruses. This is the small step to creating opportunities and building an evidence-based road map for one health. The expected outcome and recommendations will ensure longevity of coronavirus research and will help to continue the coronavirus research after the end of the COVID pandemics to combat future emerging coronaviruses.

The long term objective of the conference is to develop a network in Indian subcontinent that supports global co-ordination for the delivery of collaborative scientific research and sustained long-term ONE-HEALTH approach for better investigation of coronaviruses, improved surveillance, and social policies. The conference is further aimed at fostering cross-fertilization of ideas and providing expert perspectives to identify knowledge gaps. It will further create research opportunities, build an evidence-based road map for ONE-HEALTH and ensure the longevity of coronavirus research after the impetus of SARS-CoV2 has reduced. It will further help to disseminate and preserve knowledge to better combat future emerging coronaviruses.​
